Evan Clark Williams (born March 31, 1972) is an American web entrepreneur that has founded several Internet companies. Two of the web ‘s top ten sites are created by Williams’s businesses: Blogger, a weblog-authoring applications of Pyra Labs — and Twitter, where he was formerly Chairman, and CEO.
Among Clear Corp.’s jobs was Twitter, a popular, free social networking and micro blogging service. Twitter itself was spun out into a fresh business in April 2007, with Williams as co founder, board member, and investor. As of February 2013, Twitter had 200 million registered users. 75% of its traffic comes from outside of Twitter.com. On 4 October 2010, Williams stepped down from the CEO place, describing “I Will be totally focused on merchandise strategy”, and named Dick Costolo as his replacement. After the statement of Twitter’s initial public offering (IPO) in 2013, the firm was valued at between US$14 billion and US$20 billion. One media report expected that Williams, with a 30 to 35 percent stake in the business, would find his private riches grow from US$2 billion to US$8 billion in the aftermath of Twitter’s stock flotation.
