He’s a six-time Pro Bowl choice, and was an associate of the Colts’ Super Bowl XLI tournament team. Before the 2012 Week 5 matchup with all the Green Bay Packers, the news of head coach Chuck Pagano’s leukemia surfaced. Wayne’s history with Pagano goes back to his school years, where Pagano was the Hurricanes’ defensive backs coach, and Pagano’s hiring as the Colts’ head coach proved to be a big element in Wayne’s choice to resign with Indianapolis. In Week 5, Wayne caught 13 passes for a career high 212 receiving yards along with a touchdown from rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. The Colts won 30-27, and Wayne earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award because of his performance, the very first of his career. He also passed former Washington Redskins receiver Art Monk for 12th on the NFL’s all time receptions list through the very first half. Monk concluded his career with 940 grabs. Wayne is now 10th in receptions among the NFL’s all time reception leaders and 14th on the all time receiving yards list. During a 201213 wildcard playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens, Reggie Wayne had 114 yards on nine receptions and went into second in career playoff catches with 92 — just 59 behind leader Jerry Rice. But, the Colts lost the match 24-9. Wayne was chosen as the wide receiver for USA Football’s 2012 All-Principles Team, which honors 26 NFL players each year for performing the basics of the standing. In a 9–19 loss to the San Diego Chargers on October 14, 2013, Wayne reached 1,000 profession receptions, becoming just the ninth receiver to do so. Yet, a week after, in an October 20 match against the Denver Broncos, Wayne tore his ACL; it was declared the following day he would miss the rest of the 2013 season. The harm also stopped his consecutive games played streak at 189, the third-longest for a wide receiver in NFL history.
Released by the New England Patriots at his request. [September 5, 2015].
