Tony Capstick was born on July 27, 1944 in Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. He was an actor, known for Last of the Summer Wine (1973), Resurrected (1989) and Punters (1984). He was married to Gillian and Carol. He died on October 23, 2003 in Hoober, Wentworth, South Yorkshire, England.

In 1981 he had a hit (which reached number 3 in the UK charts) with a double A-side single "Sheffield Grinder"/"Capstick Comes Home", a parody of the Hovis bread commercial which was popular at the time, poking fun at the traditional northern "when I were a lad" stereotypes of working long hours in appalling conditions in the coal mines, walking miles to and from work through the snow and getting paid a pittance.
