Richard Benjamin Haymes Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018
Arguably one of the best singers of the twentieth century, Dick Haymes was born in Argentina to a Scots/Irish father and Irish mother, but brought to the U.S. as an infant. Dick inherited his vocal gift from his mother who made ends meet during the Depression as a singer and voice teacher. A music gig in 1931 caught the eye of a local band leader ...

Fact
1
In 1933, when Dick Haymes was fifteen years old, he landed in Hollywood with little success to get work as a film background extra and as a stunt man in the movies.
2
Dick Haymes was known in Hollywood as "Mr. Evil.".
3
Haymes's birth in Argentina to non-U.S. citizens meant he was not an American citizen. In order to avoid military service during World War II, Haymes asserted his non-belligerent status as a citizen of Argentina, which was neutral at that time. Hollywood-based columnists Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper seized upon this at the time, questioning Haymes' patriotism. Since many of Hollywood's finest were joining the military (James Stewart, Clark Gable and Robert Taylor among others) many considered him a coward and it harmed his career.
After his death, his youngest daughter Samantha was adopted by her step-father, Andy Maree.
8
His widow, Wendy, was born in 1938 and died in 2000.
9
His son Sean ran away after his father's death and did not return for four years.
10
His daughter, Samantha, did not attend his funeral. Her older siblings, from her father's previous relationships, had asked that her mother, who was divorcing Haymes at the time of his death, not attend the funeral and Samantha refused to attend without her mother.
11
He was separated from his widow at the time of his death.
12
His first child with his wife, Wendy, is named Sean Patrick and was born May 19, 1966. Their second child, Samantha, was born on March 16, 1968. Her name is now Samantha Haymes Maree Shiner.
13
He had a step-daughter, Beverly Smith, from his widow Wendy.
He married his first wife because she said she was pregnant. He left her three months later when he realized that it was not true.
16
He was awarded 2 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 1724 Vine Street and for Radio at 6841 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
17
Daughter, Stephanie, with Fran Jeffries, was born in 1959.
18
Starred in radio series "I Fly Anything" in late 1940s or early 1950s
19
In the late 1950s, while his career was on a lull, he partnered in nightclubs with his then-wife, singer Fran Jeffries (nee Fran Makris).
