Samuel "Sam" Most (December 16, 1930 – June 13, 2013) was an American jazz flautist and tenor saxophonist, based in Los Angeles. He was "probably the first great jazz flutist," according to jazz historian Leonard Feather.
Pioneering jazz flutist, trained at the Manhattan School of Music. He began his career as an eighteen-year old with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1948. Most was considered to be the first ever person to hum and play the flute at the same time.
