#Fact
Victor French is the great uncle to TV/film actress Kristin M. Meade and was her inspiration to follow in his footsteps. Kristin always knew Victor as "Uncle Eddie" because of his role in Little House as Mr. Edwards, the town's silly wisecracking drunk.
At his funeral, his humorous farewell for friends and family was "Eat Shit, Love Victor," a message displayed overhead by an airplane.
Former son-in-law of Lee J. Cobb, by his marriage to Julie Cobb.
Was not diagnosed with lung cancer until April 1989, by which time it was too advanced for treatment.
Like his friend Michael Landon, he was a chain smoker.
Inducted (as a cast member of Little House on the Prairie (1974)) into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1998.
Son of actor Ted French, grandson of Charles A. French.
