He could be the group’s leader setlister and archivist, and preserves records of all group’s shows, a few of which were released underneath the name ‘Bun E’s Bootlegs’. Carlos has two side groups with former Cheap Trick bassist Jon Brant; The Bun E Carlos Encounter as well as the Monday Night Group.

Carlos is left handed, but has switched between left and right handed playing throughout his career. He’s got few writing credits, the most famous of which will be the drum solo track “Who D’King”, in the record “All Shook Up” and “Bun E. in a Box” (2004), a drum sample CD.

In the late 1990s Carlos introduced his own line of java. He continues to promote the brand now. It had been declared in early 2009 that Carlos had, jointly with Hanson vocalist Taylor Hanson, former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha and Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger, formed a brand new group called Tinted Windows. This new job ran alongside all the musicians’ primary groups. The group played its first publicized show at SXSW in Austin, Texas on March 20, 2009. Their first record premiered on April 21, 2009.

On March 19, 2010, Cheap Trick issued a statement that Carlos isn’t the present touring drummer for Cheap Trick but that he nevertheless stays a group member. Carlos had formerly suffered from back problems, the healing and treatment of which had caused him to miss parts of some Cheap Trick tours. Nevertheless, Carlos has repeatedly said that he’s healthy. He’s also said that he hasn’t heard from the group “in a couple years” and that “perhaps we’ll kiss and make up”.

In 2011, Carlos once again debuted a group at SXSW in the form of his new job Candy Golde. Mark Greenburg (the Coctails) was added to the group when they began to play live shows. The black, important drawing gracing the cover of the EP is by well-known modern artist Wesley Kimler, handpicked by Tremulis, Stirratt and Rizzo, all good buddies together with the painter.

In 2013, Carlos filed a suit against his former bandmates, asserting that even though they maintain that he’s still a group member, he’s not being permitted to take part in group-associated tasks, including record a brand new record. The rest of the three members of Cheap Trick filed a counter suit, seeking an official affirmation of the removal of Carlos. Their suit was thrown out by a Delaware judge in late 2013.
