After high school Sparxxx moved to Athens, Georgia in 1996. In Athens, he met industry expert (and now manager and company associate) Bobby Stamps. Stamps seen Sparxxx rapping after a University of Georgia football game. Stamps organized for Sparxxx to work with many musicians in Athens and Atlanta to finish his first CD. His first commercial CD release found some success in Georgia, as well as the album Dark Days, Bright Nights captured the eye of Jimmy Iovine of Interscope Records. Sparxxx signed to Interscope Records and started working with record producers Timbaland and Organized Noize. In 2002, he had a small hit being featured on Archie Eversole’s “We Ready”, which became popular for being played at sport events, including soccer and basketball games. In late 2003, he returned with his second album, Deliverance, that has been critically acclaimed but sold badly. Sparxxx signed a recording contract with Virgin Records in 2004; under Virgin, Sparxxx released The Charm with singles “Ms. New Booty” and “Warm It Up”. He left Virgin to set up his own label, New South Entertainment, which will be doled out by E1 Records. In 2007, he released a mixtape with DJ Burn One titled Live Till Ya Boom. He said in a interview he planned on releasing an album to be called Miracle on Gamble Road, in 2012.

I'm not normally a jewellery person. I'm supposed to be a working class champion and all, and I don't like to rub my success in people's faces.
2
A lot of fuss has been made that I had a rural upbringing - but I've experienced the same problems that people from major cities experience. I've seen poverty first-hand; I've seen drug epidemics. I've been on welfare. I've gone without eating. I got family members that have been to jail. There's this whole perception of me as a shallow-minded, hillbilly hick that sits back in the woods drinking Bud all day.
