Sean Albro Tuohy (created November 23, 1959) is an American sports commentator and restaurateur. He played college basketball in the University of Mississippi in the early 1980s, and is famous for being the all time assists leader in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Tuohy, his wife Leigh Anne, and family really are a matter of Michael Lewis’ 2006 publication, “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game”, and its 2009 feature movie version, “The Blind Side”, where he’s portrayed by Tim McGraw. The novel and subsequent movie derive from the Tuohys’ raising of National Football League player Michael Oher, who plays for the Tennessee Titans.
Tuohy was raised Roman Catholic. Tuohy’s dad was Edward “Skeets” Tuohy, a basketball coach in the esteemed Isidore Newman School, in New Orleans, Louisiana where the Tuohy Gymnasium is named in his honour. Tuohy graduated from Newman. Tuohy led the Ole Miss Rebels to their very first SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament tournament in 1981. As a player at Ole Miss, Tuohy was named All-SEC in every one of his four seasons. He was named to the All-Century SEC team and is the sole basketball player in the annals of the SEC to lead a statistical group for four years, as he did with assists. Tuohy is only the fourth basketball player ever selected to the Ole Miss Sports Hall of Fame. Drafted by the NBA’s New Jersey Nets using the 218th pick (Round 10) in 1982, he elected to continue his career abroad before returning to the U.S. to be with his dad in his closing days. He’s seven years of experience as an analyst for radio broadcasts at Ole Miss, along with national transmissions for Westwood One and CBS Radio. Tuohy and his wife are also the coauthors of the novel, In a Heartbeat: Sharing the Power of Cheerful Giving, that was released in 2010. Tuohy wed his wife, Leigh Anne in the mid-1980s as well as the couple have three kids. Along with Michael Oher, the Tuohys are parents to daughter Collins Tuohy, who had been a state champ in the pole vault and cheerleader,and son Sean Tuohy Jr., He’s a freshman guard for the Loyola Greyhounds. Tuohy and his wife live in Memphis, Tennessee.
