She first appeared in the show's 4765th episode, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 19 December 2013. Her casting was announced alongside her on-screen partner, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer). He debuted a week later. Linda was introduced as part of an expansion to the Carter family, headed by new executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins. Linda became landlady of the Queen Victoria Public House and moved there with her family from her mother's pub in Watford. The introduction of Dyer and Bright was part of a large cast shake-up planned by new executive producer Treadwell-Collins in an attempt to improve ratings. The characters and their on-screen family have proved popular with viewers. Bright previously auditioned for the role of Tanya Branning in 2006, but the part was given to Jo Joyner. Along with their on-screen son, played by Sam Strike, they began filming in late October. Maddy Hill joined them in the role of daughter Nancy soon after.
