John Corigliano (born 16 February 1938 in New York City, United States) is an American composer of classical music. His scores, now numbering over one hundred, have won him the Pulitzer Prize, five Grammy Awards, Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition, and an Oscar. He is a distinguished professor of music at Lehman College in the City University of New York and on the composition faculty at the Juilliard School.

In 1979 was comissioned by the Metropolitan Opera to write a new opera for the company, the first Met comission in almost fifteen years. After twelve years of work composing, Corigliano's new opera, "The Ghosts of Versailles," received its world premiere at the Metropolitan Opera, in December 1991, with James Levine conducting.

His father, John Corigliano, Sr., was concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic from 1943 to 1966, and was seen on many of Leonard Bernstein's "Young People's Concerts".
