Bill Rasmussen is the cofounder and first president and CEO of ESPN. Rasmussen’s profession in the media started using the standard men on 100.5 rock, in Atlanta, GA, in 1962. In 1974 he left Springfield to join ice hockey’s New England Whalers as Communications Manager. In the finish of the 1977 78 World Hockey Association season, Rasmussen was fired by the Whalers. So started the quest of ESPN, incorporating the fledgling network on July 14, 1978. It started airing fourteen months after, at 7 p.m. on September 7, 1979. Rasmussen founded “The Global Leader in Sports” in 1978 along with his son, Scott Rasmussen. He’s a frequent guest on company and sports radio talk shows. His web enterprises include serving as Chairman of the Mindset Network, house of the Happy Puppy and Games Domain websites; and as Chairman of Sports at Home, a sports-themed game website that offered an variety of virtual sports stadiums and games to play online within all the arenas. Rasmussen has participated in charity events, including nine years using the Winged Foot Scholarship System, and five years having a Senior PGA Tour event, and is a regular participant in celebrity charity golf events through the united states. Rasmussen introduced College Fanz, a web-based school sports community. The College Fanz Sports Network was established on September 7, 2007.
