Tullio Pinelli was born on June 24, 1908 in Turin, Piedmont, Italy. He was a writer, known for La Dolce Vita (1960), La Strada (1954) and 8½ (1963). He was married to Madeleine Lebeau. He died on March 7, 2009 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
Initially wrote scripts for radio and theatre. Screenplays from 1941.

The success of his melodramatic play "The Etruscan Fathers" led to a script-writing job with Lux, the largest film company in Rome. At Lux, he met another scriptwriter, Federico Fellini. They had completely different personalities and backgrounds, but quickly became friends, and went on to collaborate on several of Fellini's own films.

Born of a noble family, after having been a cavalry officer and a lawyer he followed his taste for theater and wrote about a dozen stage dramas. At the age of 90 became a novelist too, writing "La casa di Robespierre" (= "Robespierre's home")
