Matthew Polenzani (born 1968) is an American lyric tenor, born in Evanston, Illinois. He has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the Seattle Opera, and other companies. He has also sung with numerous symphony orchestras. Polenzani earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1990, and a master's from the Yale School of Music where he studied with Richard Cross and Doris Yarick-Cross (chair of Yale's opera department). In the 2013 autumn season of the Metropolitan Opera he sings in the role of Duke of Mantua in Giuseppe Verdi´s opera Rigoletto.Polenzani won the Richard Tucker Award in 2004. He is married to mezzo-soprano Rosa Maria Pascarella. Singer-songwriter Rose Polenzani is his sister.
