So this bus breaks down, and the driver gets out to try and fix it. The lady bus conductress gets out too, and says 'D'you want a screwdriver?' - and the driver replies 'Leave it out, I'm late enough already...'

And remember, you don't have to watch this endless display of perversitude and fleshy bummery. You've all got a knob there - so use it!
3
Commenting on his work for gay rights, he told David Bowie during the taping of one of his TV shows: "I...FOUGHT...for people like you! And I never got one!"
4
(The joke that got him fired from BBC Radio 2): "When England was a kingdom, we had a king. When we were an empire, we had an emperor. Now we're a country, and we have Margaret Thatcher."

Fact
1
He was influential in making the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen a hit, which he played fourteen times over the space of one weekend during his time at Capital Radio . At nearly six minutes long, incorporating different musical sections, including pseudo-opera, hard rock and 180 overdubs, the song was considered by many to be too unconventional to be a single until Everett started playing it. The song's success made the band into a global phenomenon and went on to become one of the most successful songs in the history of British popular music. Everett also became a friend of Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
2
His favorite piece of music was Symphonic Prelude by Giacomo Puccini.
3
Kenny Everett had a U.K. top ten hit single in 1983 with "Snot Rap", based on some of the catch-phrases of characters from the Kenny Everett Show and co-written with Mike Moran.
4
Frequently locked horns with the studio bosses during the production of _"Kenney Everett Video Show, The" (1978)_. In one skit, he depicted them as being behind an ancient, cobweb covered door marked "Office Of Saying 'No'".
5
Despite his anarchic sense of humor, his open homosexuality, his public campaigning for gay rights and his caustic jokes aimed at Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher, he was a member and open supporter of the Conservative Party (Tories) in England. At one party conference, he spoke from the platform, imploring: "Let's bomb Russia!".
6
Was fired from BBC Radio 1 for telling a joke about the Minister of Transport's wife's driving test, hinting that the driving instructor may have been bribed.
7
Received the Gold Sony Radio Award in 1994 for Lifetime Achievement in Broadcasting.
8
Lampooned the US military-industrial complex with his character, "General Norm Bomthebastards", televangelists with his character "Brother Lee Love", and sex-symbol celebrities with his character "Cupid Stunt".
9
Was originally a disc jockey for a British off-shore (pirate) radio station, Radio London, and briefly left to work with Radio Luxembourg, returning after RL fired him for admitting that he smoked marijuana. After British law forced the off-shore stations off the air, he worked for the BBC, and later for licensed commercial stations, including Capital Radio.
10
After his death, his entire collection of on-air recordings of his work (over 200 hours) were donated to the National Sound Archive.
