David Mercer was born on June 27, 1928 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England. He was a writer, known for Family Life (1971), Providence (1977) and Morgan! (1966). He died on August 8, 1980 in Haifa, Israel.
He was bedeviled by alcoholism for most of his adult life; it sometimes made him violent and cost him many friends, as well as bringing his first marriage to an acrimonious close.
