Ernst Baier was born on September 27, 1905 in Bittau, Silesia, Austria-Hungary. He was an actor and writer, known for Gleichklang der Bewegung (1941), Der bunte Traum (1952) and Gut gefragt ist halb gewonnen (1964). He was married to Birgitta Wennström and Maxi Baier. He died on July 8, 2001 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany.
At the 1936 Olympic Winter Games, he and his future wife won the gold medal in the pairs event in figure skating on 14 February. The following day, he won the men's figure skating silver medal.
