Charles Hawtrey was born on September 21, 1858 in Eton, England as Charles Henry Hawtrey. He was an actor and writer, known for A Message from Mars (1913), Honeymoon for Three (1915) and The Private Secretary (1935). He was married to Katherine Elsie Emma Petre and Madeline 'Mae' Harriet. He died on July 30, 1923 in Marylebone, London, England.
His two marriages bore no children, however, in 1906, with an unmarried actress called Olive Morris, a cousin of actress Dame Ellen Terry and 26 years his junior, he had a son, Anthony Hawtrey , who was raised by his mother only.
