Brian George Wilde (13 June 1927 – 20 March 2008) was an English actor, best known for his roles in television comedy, including Mr Barrowclough in Porridge and "Foggy" Dewhurst in Last of the Summer Wine. His lugubrious world-weary face was a staple of British television for forty years.

1Best known for his socially aspiring middle-class comedy characters, and for his ability to perfectly deliver convoluted dialogue. As such, chiefly remembered as 'Foggy' Dewhurst in _"Roy Clarke's Last of the Summer Wine" (1973)_ and as the guileless prison officer Mr. Barrowclough in Porridge (1974), forever at the whim of Ronnie Barker's inmate Fletcher.
