Brian Gayle (born 6 March 1965 in Kingston) is a retired English football defender. As a player he helped Wimbledon to the 1988 FA Cup Final where they achieved a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool. However, Gayle was not in the squad for that game.While at Sheffield United in 1992, Gayle scored an own goal in a match against local rivals Leeds United, cancelling out Leeds's Lee Chapman's earlier own goal. The resulting draw gave Leeds the Division 1 title and denied Manchester United their first championship in 23 years.
He was a footballer for Wimbledon FC during the 80s and also played for Sheffield United, where he was a teammate of footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones.
