John Shaft Covington (born April 22, 1972) is a former American football safety. He played one season for the Indianapolis Colts. Covington played college football at Notre Dame.Also going by the name John Covington is the former chancellor of the Education Achievement Authority, who was appointed in 2011. During Covington's tenure, math test scores at EAA schools have not increased, while the EAA spent $10,000 on gas for a chauffeur-driven car for Covington. On June 16, 2014, Covington resigned from the EAA to focus on taking care of his ailing mother. Valerie Conforme looks like the likeliest candidate to replace Covington.
