Will Hammer was born in 1887 in England as William Hinds. He was a producer and actor, known for Polly's Two Fathers (1936), Song of Freedom (1936) and The Bank Messenger Mystery (1936). He died on June 1, 1957 in Guildford, Surrey, England.
Operated a theatrical booking agency and, at one time, performed in a short-lived double comedy act, "Hammer & Smith". Later owned theatres in Bournemouth, Clacton, Felixstowe and Broadstairs. In 1934, partnered Enrique Carrerras in setting up Exclusive Films. His own production company went into liquidation in 1937, but, in 1949, he registered a new organisation under his name, acting as its director until his death in 1957.

Prior to founding Hammer Studios, he owned a chain of bicycle shops and hairdressing salons.
