Melvyn "Mel" Sterland (born 1 October 1961 in Sheffield) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United and in the Scottish Football League Premier Division for Rangers, and was capped once for England.
He spent most of his career at Sheffield Wednesnday, so the decision to use him playing for Sheffield United in _When Saturday Comes (1996) _ was odd, and they had to film several sequences over and over again as the crowd, made up of especially invited Blades fans, kept booing him even though he was in a United shirt!
