Originality is the weight placed onto people's shoulders that they quickly want to be free from. It embarrasses them that they don't understand it. They like having a pre-recorded laugh track telling them when they're supposed to laugh and their friends letting them know what album is supposed to be hip at the moment. If admiring the obscure is socially unacceptable then I guess those that I appreciate the most are socially handicapable.
