Edwin Durwood Merrill (March 12, 1938 - January 11, 2003) was an American umpire in Major League Baseball who worked in the American League for 23 seasons (1977-1999).Born in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, Merrill was known for being friendly and outgoing, as well as being a top-notch umpire. He was also a leader in charitable work in his hometown of Hooks, Texas. In 1998 he wrote a humorous collection of his experiences, called You're Out and You're Ugly, Too!.
