LaTavia Marie Roberson (created November 1, 1981) is an American Grammy award winning vocalist, songwriter, and performer. Roberson climbed to popularity in the late 1990s as an initial member of the R&B group Destiny’s Child, one of the world’s best selling girl groups of all time. Following her departure in the group, Roberson formed Anjel along with former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett. After their record was shelved, Roberson went on hiatus returned to Houston.
Roberson and Luckett filed a suit in March 2000 against Mathew Knowles as well as the group. This started a media battle in which the two sides exchanged barbs in magazine and newspaper interviews. Close to the finish of 2000, they consented to a resolution that required them to drop the segment of the litigation that targeted their former group members (though they kept the suit against Mathew Knowles) and required both sides to cease disparaging each other in public. Roberson and Luckett filed another suit against Destiny’s Child. They maintained that the initial single, “Survivor”, from Destiny’s Child’s 2001 record of the exact same name broken their preceding resolution because of its lyrics which they considered referenced the nasty schism. They recorded over 22 tracks but failed to release an album. The tracks, however, were leaked online. The group appeared in Jagged Edge’s music video “Where the Party At” Remix. The record company was having trouble so the group subsequently parted ways for solo careers.
