Neal Brennan Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018

Neal Brennan (born c. 1974) is an American writer, stand-up comedian, performer, director and producer. He’s famous for co-creating and co writing the Comedy Central series “Chappelle’s Show” with Dave Chappelle.

In 1997 Brennan and Dave Chappelle collaborated for the very first time on the screenplay for the movie Half Baked. The movie premiered in January 1998 and starred Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams and Guillermo Daz. Half Baked was a commercial failure and got mostly negative reviews. In a 2006 interview Brennan referred to the entire year of the movie ‘s launch as “probably the worst year of my entire life, creatively and personally.” In a interview that same year on In the Actor’s Studio, Chappelle recounted how he and Brennan lost touch with each other following the launch of Half Baked: “It simply was like leaving a crime scene” Chappelle said. The pair composed the show’s sketches themselves with minimal external help and consented to never divulge who was responsible for writing which Chappelle’s Show sketches. Brennan directed some sketches in the show’s second season, for example, sketch featuring Chappelle as musician Rick James. From the conclusion of its own second season, Chappelle’s Show was Comedy Central’s highest-rated program. Members of the musical group The Roots worked as music directors on the 2nd and third seasons of Chappelle’s Show. Brennan would later advocate the group to Jimmy Fallon as his house band on the talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Consequently, the premier of season three was delayed and Brennan compiled the staying sketches in the “lost episodes” that aired in July 2006.

1[on working with Dave Chappelle again] The relationship is charred. I don't think Dave ever wants to be in showbiz again, and I wouldn't want to work with him. We did the best thing we could have possibly done, and it still ended terribly. What else is there to do?
2[on Dave Chappelle quitting Chappelle's Show (2003)] Before Dave left, things had been awful between us for a long time. Once the show became this cash cow, everyone who worked for him kind of played his ego against me and against the show. It was a very clichéd, 'Behind the Music (1997)' kind of thing - money, credit, paranoia, suspicion. It was so unnecessary. I felt beyond betrayed. I would have signed a lifelong contract with Dave. He was one of my favorite comedians, we'd been best friends for 15 years. It was painful. It will probably be the biggest personal disappointment of my life.
3I'm never going to be more successful than I've been in the past two years. I have a better chance of being eaten by a shark. I'll never be famous, but I've got financial success. People in show biz seem to want to work with me. And I get to control the stuff I write. Fame gives you noise. It gives you a lot of [mimes screaming], which is fucking worthless. I have a girlfriend I love, so I can't use it to get women. It's not like Dave and I got laid because of Chappelle's Show (2003). He was married, and I'm... pale.
4[asked if he would ever work with Dave Chappelle again] No. There's no chance.
