Not to be confused with mathematician Yves MeyerEve Meyer (born Evelyn Eugene Turner; December 13, 1928 – March 27, 1977) was an American pin-up model, motion picture actress, and film producer. Much of her work was done in conjunction with sexploitation filmmaker Russ Meyer to whom she was married from 1952 to 1969. She was killed in the Tenerife airport disaster in 1977, the worst aviation disaster in history.
Meyer was on board Pan Am Flight 1736 which collided with KLM Flight 1805 during the Tenerife airport disaster where 2 Boeing 747 collided (the Pan Am 747 was taxiing when the KLM eventually took off and hit the aircraft). A Canarian militant group, Fuerzas Armadas Guanches, plotted a terrorist attack at Gran Canaria Airport, resulting in aircraft bound for Gran Canaria International Airport to be diverted to Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport). The 583 who were killed on both 747s resulted in the deadliest aviation accident in history prior to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
