Russ Conway was born on September 2, 1925 in Bristol, England as Trevor Herbert Stanford. He is known for his work on Climb Up the Wall (1960), The Wakey Wakey Tavern (1956) and The Dream Maker (1963). He died on November 16, 2000 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England.
His trademark percussive style of playing was a result of losing the tip of one of his fingers in an accident with a bread slicer while he was serving in the Royal Navy during World War II.
