Ralph Vaughan Williams OM (/?re?f ?v??n ?w?lj?mz/; 12 October 1872 – 26 August 1958) was an English composer of symphonies, chamber music, opera, choral music, and film scores. He was also a collector of English folk music and song; this collecting activity influenced both his editorial approach to the English Hymnal, in which he included many folk song arrangements as hymn tunes, and several of his own original compositions.
He is mentioned in the film The Lady in the Van (2015), in which his real-life widow Ursula is one of the characters.

He was awarded the O.M. (Order of Merit) in the 1935 King's Honours List for his services to music.
