Mike Thorne (born 1948 in Sunderland, England) is a British record producer. He started playing piano at age of 10. In late 60s he worked as a tape operator in London with Deep Purple and many others. Later he worked as a music journalist and in late 70s as record producer. He produced many albums by musicians of various genres as rock, punk, post-punk, jazz fusion or pop such as John Cale, Marc Almond, Nina Hagen, Laurie Anderson and Soft Machine, as well as the seminal first three records by Wire.
