He’s got also played in other famous groups including Dust, Wayne County as well as the Backstreet Boys, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, and The Misfits. Marky Ramone is the sole surviving member of the longest-enduring Ramones lineup. His lineup, which featured Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee, survived for 15 years.
Marc Bell began playing drums in 1971 with among the very first heavy metal groups in The United States, Dust, which contained Kenny Aaronson on bass guitar and Richie Wise on guitar, and was made by Kenny Kerner. Bell recorded two records together with the group, before getting into the punk arena. In late 1972, after the departure of New York Dolls first drummer Billy Murcia, Bell auditioned as a replacement and was the only seriously contemplated option to the ultimate selected nominee, Jerry Nolan. In the mid-70s he played with Wayne County as well as the Backstreet Boys. Wayne County would continue to become rock’s first transsexual vocalist. He played about the Voidoid’s first album, Blank Generation. In 1978, Bell was renamed Marky Ramone. Marky Ramone was with the Ramones for another five years. He was requested to leave the group in late 1982 for private motives. He returned in 1987 and played 1700 shows using the group up until their retirement in 1996 In 1993, Marky appeared against the Ramones in the episode “Rosebud” of The Simpsons. In 1996, Marky joined Dee Dee Ramone to form The Ramainz, performing Ramones tunes. In March 2002, Marky was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, at Nyc ‘s Waldorf Astoria as an associate of the Ramones. In 2002 He recorded some records together with his solo groups Marky Ramone & the Intruders and Marky Ramone & the Speedkings, along with many 7″ releases. Marky Ramone & the Speedkings toured the world from 2002 to 2003.
