John Lee Hooker Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018
John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 – June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. Hooker was born in Mississippi, he was the son of a sharecropper, and rose to prominence performing his own interpretation of what was originally a unique style of country blues. He developed a 'talking blues' style that became his trademark. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. His best known songs include Boogie Chillen' (1948), I'm in the Mood (1951), and Boom Boom (1962)—the first two reaching #1 on the Billboard R&B chart. Date Of Birth | August 22, 1917 |

# | Quote |
---|---|
1 | I don't play a lot of fancy guitar. The kind of guitar I want to play is mean, mean, mean licks. |
2 | No matter what anybody says, it all comes down to the same thing. A man and a woman, a broken heart and a broken home. |
# | Fact |
---|---|
1 | He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 7083 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California. |
2 | He passed away on the same day that legendary actor, Carroll O'Connor did. The coincidental thing about this is that their stars are right next to one another on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. |
3 | When he was young, he told everyone that he was born on 22 August 1917, so he would seem older and more experienced. Later, he corrected himself, and said he was born on 22 August 1920. |
4 | Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - 1992. Won a Blues Grammy with Bonnie Raitt for "The Healer". |
