Both DJs struck up a long term friendship and working relationship despite Sasha twice failing to turn up for shows that Digweed had reserved him for in Hastings. In partnership with Sasha, Digweed is famous for encouraging progressive house and celebrated for producing the initial commercial compilation to get a club when they released the 1994 compilation of combinations in the club Renaissance entitled Renaissance: The Mix Collection. Until then mixtapes from nightclubs had just been circulated by DJs on an amateur basis. The Renaissance CD was first time that the compilation CD were planned strategically for advertising in the graphics to promotion. Both DJs notoriously followed this up using their Northern Exposure compilations and the ones on Global Underground. Then he began the record label Bedrock Records to further boost the music he was playing at that time. Along with beginning the Bedrock imprint, he and pal Nick Muir produce beneath the Bedrock alias getting their big break when their first track ‘For That Which You Dream Of’ was used in the movie Trainspotting.
