James Gordon "Jim" Cuddy (born December 2, 1955 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian singer-songwriter primarily associated with the band Blue Rodeo. He has also recorded three solo albums with the Jim Cuddy Band, which features musicians Bazil Donovan, Colin Cripps, Joel Anderson, Anne Lindsay and Gavin Brown. Guest performers include Kathleen Edwards, former Weeping Tile member Sarah Harmer, and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.
I recognize that for a lot of people, their love of royalty is about fairy tales made manifest. But I have no feelings like that whatever. I didn't even like fairy tales when I was a kid. But the more I real about [Prince William] the more I admire him. I come to it from having watched 'The King's Speech', about somebody that had to completely sacrifice and subjugate his personality to become king. That something is the spirit that Will is following. I mean, he could be Harry. He could just be leading a rich guy's life.

[on songwriting] Every time I would write a song that I thought would be suitable for the fiddle, I couldn't make it rural. I kept making it more city-sounding, more a brick neighborhood than a field.

There are all these urban centers around the world that I've got so much inspiration from, and then I come back and write about the mountains and Lake Louise. Okay, that was inspiring a one time too, but I've had as much inspiration from New York and Toronto as anywhere.
