He works with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the Philadelphia, Cleveland and Los Angeles orchestras in the US, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Wiener Symphoniker and the NHK Symphony in Japan.Gianandrea took up his role at Teatro Regio Torino in 2007 and has transformed it into a global theatre which tours internationally and which undertakes major recording projects, despite challenging economic conditions in his country. The company now has residencies in Japan and China, and in Europe at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. Last year Teatro Regio Torino made its debut at the Dresden Festival and at the Wiener Konzerthaus, and in December 2014 Noseda takes his orchestra and chorus to North America for its debut there, visiting Chicago, Ann Arbor, Toronto and Carnegie Hall in New York.Many of the productions he has led at Teatro Regio Torino have been released on DVD, including Verdi’s I vespri siciliani and Don Carlo, Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov directed by the celebrated Russian Director Andrei Konchalovsky, and Massenet’s Thaïs directed by Stefano Poda, which was recently recognized as one of the top twenty opera productions of the last twenty years by BBC Music Magazine. In 2013, to mark Verdi’s 200th birthday, he and his orchestra and chorus recorded two highly acclaimed CDs of arias with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon for Deutsche Grammophon.Born in Milan, Gianandrea was the first foreign Principal Guest Conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. In 1999 he became Principal Guest Conductor at the Rotterdam Philharmonic and at the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI. After nearly ten years leading the BBC Philharmonic, Gianandrea is now Conductor Laureate performing in Manchester and at the BBC Proms in London.Noseda’s recent Guest Conducting engagements include his debut at Vienna State Opera and at the Musikverein in Vienna.
