Fact
1
Had two daughters with Diane Hooker: Tracey Haggerty and Tammy Haggerty. Had three children with Samantha Hilton: Dylan Haggerty, Cody Haggerty and Megan Haggerty.
2
He was the son of Donald Paul Haggerty (1922-2010) and Ruth Elaine Leonhardt (1922-2010). His father was the head of Film Technicians Union, Local 683.
3
The online Press-Telegram obituary said that Haggarty passed away at home in San Fernando Valley, California. However, the Press-Telegram Early Weekend edition, January 16-17, 2016 and the Hollywood Reporter obituary quoted his manager, Terry Bomar to the Hollywood Reporter as saying that Haggarty died at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
4
His famous beard caught fire from a careless restaurant patron carrying a flaming cocktail (1977).
5
Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7070 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on February 1, 1994.
6
The reason for the confusion on the Walk of Fame stars was not simply the similar names but that Dan's father was Don Haggerty. He was the head of the Film Processing Union (#683) when his son got that "big break". He was a producer and director.
7
Marketed and sold a brand of barbeque sauce from his own recipe.
8
Worked as an animal trainer and stuntman.
9
Was a Muscle Beach bodybuilder in the early 1960s.
10
The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams (1977) star was the only person to have his star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This was actually meant to honor another actor, the late Don Haggerty, and the committee made an error in spelling. Eventually, Dan received a legitimate star, currently located in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
11
Sentenced to 90 days in County Jail and three years' probation for furnishing cocaine to two undercover policemen (1984).
12
Opened "Haggerty's Bistro" in Studio City, California (1991).
