Carroll Holmes Pratt (April 19, 1921 – November 11, 2010) was an American sound engineer who, along with laugh track inventor Charley Douglass, pioneered the use of prerecorded laughter.

1He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. His B-24 bomber was shot down over Austria, and the crew parachuted. He was captured and held prisoner for almost two years, escaping from a German camp in 1945.
2His father, a sound engineer in radio and film, was also named Carroll. He worked on Showgirl's Luck (1931), considered by the Australian National Film & Sound Archive to be Australia's first film with sound.
