Boyd graduated from Calabasas High School in 1994 and attended Moorpark College for a couple of years before giving to Incubus. Brandon grew up in Calabasas, CA with Ricky Taylor who inspired him to compose music. His parents, Priscilla “Dolly” Wiseman and Charles Boyd, both of whom had expertise in amusement, had nurtured his arty side since he was a kid. Other musical members of the family include his younger brother, Jason Boyd, the previous lead singer of the group Audiovent, cousin Sam Boyd, a songwriter and touring musician, along with cousin Robert “Berto Chico” Boyd, an accomplished Flamenco guitarist. In a interview, Brandon clarified that he’d “yet to stumble across his best work” because he lacked the power to read music. Initially, Boyd had replicated several drawings from a sex education book that Einziger’s mom had given them, but he made a decision to avoid using it after several future supporters were confounded by their fliers (“What type of group is this?”). They finally began to receive criticisms and children would start to see the fliers and ask “What type of group are you?” And so the group had to pull away back to using their very own graphics. He’s famous for having some guitar parts during live performances. His voice was part of what enticed Sony’s Epic/Immortal Records, as well as the group was signed in 1996. The group’s first two releases on the label, Enjoy Incubus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. went mostly undetected, but following launches Make Yourself and Morning View were commercial successes. On November 28, 2006, the group released Light Grenades. On June 16, 2009, Incubus released a greatest hits record titled Monuments and Melodies. In 2011 Incubus completed their seventh studio album If Not Now, When?, that was released on July 12, 2011, followed subsequently with a tour.
