1George Forrest and his musical, "Kismet" at the Marriott Theatre in Chicago, Illinois was nominated for a 1997 Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for Musical Production.
2Some of his best known songs include "The Donkey Serenade," "Sands of Time," "Willow, Willow, Willow," "Night of My Nights" and "I've Been Working on the Railroad."
3Leading his own orchestra while a teenager, he also was a Tony-winning songwriter and lyricist (for the musical "Kismet, which produced "Strangers in Paradise" and "Baubles, Bangles and Beads"). Partnered with Chet Forrest, their last corroboration was the Broadway show "Grand Hotel."
4According to his New York Times obituary, he played the piano for both singer Helen Morgan and dancer Sally Rand before he went to work in Hollywood.
5His songwriting partnership with Chet Forrest lasted for 70 years, until Forrest's death in 1999.
6Won a Tony Award in 1954 for "Kismet" as adapter of Aleksandr Borodin's music and as lyricist with Chet Forrest, among others who contributed to the Best Musical win.
