Douglas Allen Woody (October 3, 1955 – August 25, 2000) was a bass guitarist best known for his tenure in the rock groups The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, The Artimus Pyle Band, The Peter Criss Band, Blue Floyd, and Montage.

4After his death on 26 August 2000, a tribute concert called One For Woody was put on at the Roseland Ballroom, New York City. The concert, held on September 21, 2000, featured Phil Lesh & Friends, The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band and the remaining Government Mule. Guests included Little Milton, Edwin McCain, Darius Rucker (of Hootie & the Blowfish), Hank Herrera, Johnny Neal, Dave Schools (of Widespread Panic), Merl Saunders, Artimus Pyle (formerly of Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Leslie West (Mountain), and others. The show raised money for the education of Woody's daughter, Savannah.
5Aside from the bass playing that made him famous, Allen played mandolin, dulcitar and guitar. He played many different kinds of basses, including both electric and acoustic, fretless, upright, four-string, five-string, six-string, ten-string and 18-string, as well as double-necked basses. He also wrote songs for Government Mule and The Allman Brothers Band.
