Roger William Corman (born April 5, 1926) is an American film producer, director and performer. He’s mainly worked on low budget B movies. Much of Corman’s work comes with an established critical reputation, like his cycle of movies adapted in the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. In 2009, he was given an Honorary Academy Award. Corman mentored and gave a beginning to a lot of young film directors like Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese and Peter Bogdanovich. He helped establish the careers of celebrities Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson. Corman has sometimes taken minor playing roles in the movies of directors who began with him, including “The Silence of the Lambs”, “The Godfather Part II”, “Apollo 13”, “The Manchurian Candidate” (2004) and “Philadelphia”.
