J. Om Prakash (b. 24 January 1927, Lahore, Punjab, British India) is a famous Indian film producer and director, best known for Aap Ki Kasam (1974) and Aasha (1980). . His only daughter, Pinky, is married to director-producer Rakesh Roshan, making him the maternal grandfather of superstar actor Hrithik Roshan.After producing successful films like Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966) and Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke (1969), he made his directorial debut with Aap Ki Kasam (1974), starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. The film was a box office success, and is remembered for its songs by R. D. Burman including "Jai, Jai Shiv Shankar" and "Karwaten Badalte Rahen". Most of his films started with the letter "A."He was also elected President of the Film Federation of India (1995-1996).
My father was a humble school-teacher from Lahore who rose to be an educationist. His advice to me, "No matter what you do in life, always remain a student who is eager for more knowledge. Never think that you know everything!" always held me in good stead.

I had the privilege to cast him in Aap Ki Kasam, Akraman, Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka and Akhir Kyun. Rajesh and I had an association for so many years. Kaka was the first choice for Apnapan and Arpan but due to date issues had to opt for Jeetendra. He was a very warm-hearted person and a great actor. I think he was an asset and rather pride of any filmmaker he worked with. He was my favorite super-star and remains the most versatile too.

Director J. Om Prakash managed to include into his 1980 film "Aasha" the first screen appearance of his grandson - future Hindi film superstar Hrithik Roshan, then aged only 6 - by shooting him in a music interlude without the boy's knowledge.
