George Pickow (February 1, 1922 – December 10, 2010) was a photographer and filmmaker who chronicled the folk and jazz music scenes in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries.His photographs depict many musical artists, ranging from Louis Armstrong, Little Richard, and Theodore Bikel, to Pete Seeger and Judy Collins, as well as visual artists such as Edward Hopper. As a filmmaker, he helped chronicle the Newport Folk Festival and the Cornish Hobby Horse tradition.
I was mainly into old jazz and blues then and thought nothing was any good unless it was down and dirty. She wasn't Bessie Smith. But I've learned a lot since then.

He was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He studied painting at Cooper Union in New York City. During World War II, he made training films for the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Ritchie of Port Washington, Long Island, New York; two sons, Jon Pickow of Viper, Kentucky; and Peter Pickow. He is survived by his sister, Lenette Pickow.
