He climbed to mainstream visibility by directing the last four pictures in the “Harry Potter” film series: entries five, six, seven, and eight (2007–2011). His work on the show brought him important commercial success as well as accolades, including the Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing. Yates’ subsequent jobs contain “Tyrant” (TBC), “Tarzan” (2016), as well as the “Cicero” movie trilogy (TBC). Yates is a founding member of Directors UK. He’s had a close partnership with Warner Bros. as a director/producer.
