Boris Barnet was born on June 18, 1902 in Moscow, Russian Empire as Boris Vasilyevich Barnet. He was a director and actor, known for The Patriots (1933), The Adventures of the Three Reporters (1926) and Secret Agent (1947). Trained at the State Film School under Lev Kuleshov and first worked as assistant to Fedor Ozep in 1926. Did his best work as a director between 1928 and 1940, occasionally also appearing in his films.

Boris Barnet was invited to direct the movie Zagovor poslov (1965) and already started pre-production, but he unexpectedly committed suicide at age 62 in Riga, USSR [now Latvia]. So the movie was directed by Nikolai Rozantsev.
