Osten Taylor was born on December 10, 1975 in Nashua, New Hampshire, USA. He is known for his work on Survivor (2000) and American Backwoods: Slew Hampshire (2013).

During the "Fallen Comrades" segment, the three players left in the game at that point each passed by the torch of a castaway who had been previously voted off, stopping to say a few words about the torch's former bearer. His torch was not a part of this ceremony.

He was the first contestant in "Survivor" history to voluntarily quit the game. At Tribal Council, teammate Andrew Savage revealed that Taylor had explicitly asked to be voted out. After questions from host Jeff Probst, the Morgan tribe agreed unanimously to allow Taylor to quit the game. Instead of uttering the trademark "The tribe has spoken" as he extinguished Taylor's torch, Probst instead said, "Per your wishes, go home."
