Nick Sagan (born September 16, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of the science fiction novels Idlewild, Edenborn, and Everfree, and his screen credits include episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. He is the son of astronomer Carl Sagan and artist and writer Linda Salzman.
Two older half-brothers - Dorion and Jeremy, a younger half-sister Sasha and a younger half-brother in Sam.

Wrote his first (produced) teleplay at age 22.

Dropped out of high school to study film at UCLA; he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

In 1977, his voice was sent into space on the Voyager spacecraft along with other recorded messages, music, photographs and sounds of Earth. His greeting, "Hello from the children of planet Earth," was featured in the movie Starman (1984)
Attended The Mirman School, a K thru 8 private school for mentally gifted children in Bel-Air, California. A fellow alumnus of Mirman is Crispin Glover (though they are years apart).
