William Penn Gregory, Jr. (born December 14, 1949 in Galveston, Texas) is a former American football defensive lineman in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin and was drafted in the third round of the 1971 NFL Draft.
Bill was a crew member on Lee Poll's set decorating gang in the mid 80's, on her film decorating projects, including the following: "Arthur On The Rocks 2", "Little Nikita", "Steel Magnolias", and "Soap Dish", etc.. Lee had made Bill her "lead man" on "Steel Magnolias" filming on location in Nachitoches, Louisanna in 1988. When Lee Poll accepted the Set Decorating position on "Murder She Wrote" she insisted on Bill being her assistant as co-set decorator, generously establishing his set decorating credentials. The pair had worked with "Murder, She Wrote" - Production Designer Hub Braden on films, together, since 1986. The "team" were back together when they joined the TV series. Angela Lansbury, as Executive Producer, had the final approval of Lee and Bill joining her CBS TV Series-production when the department change occurred. Angela Lansbury was gracious meeting the duo, and felt great confidence hiring them as part of the "Murder, She Wrote" family.
