Nick Hanauer (born 1959) is an American entrepreneur and venture capitalist residing in Shoreline, Washington. After earning his philosophy degree in the University of Washington, Hanauer got his company beginning in the family-owned Pacific Coast Feather Company, where he continues to serve as cochair and CEO. In the 1980s he co-founded Museum Quality Framing Firm, a big West Coast franchise. In the 1990s Hanauer was among the initial investors in (where he served as advisor to the board until 2000). The organization guides and funds early stage businesses like HouseValues Qliance, and Newsvine. Hanauer is cofounder of The True Patriot Network, a nonpartisan think tank framed upon the thoughts he and Eric Liu presented in their 2007 novel, The True Patriot.
